Aspire E-5-575G-55KK charging issue

More details:
I have an Aspire E-5-575G-55KK, bought it new about 2 years ago. Until recently I haven't had any issues with it. About a month ago it started acting very oddly when charging - I plug it in, it charges just fine for a few seconds before claiming that it is no longer plugged in at all. After another second or two, it starts charging again and then repeats this same sequence for as long as it is plugged in.
This seems to be causing it to charge very slowly. I have also noticed the adapter getting much more hot that it usually does, and the laptop does not charge at all when I plug the adapter directly into a wall socket - I have to go through a power strip.

What I've done so far:
1. Cleaned out the jack with a compressed air can.
2. Confirmed that the laptop charges fine when it is turned off.
3. Replaced the AC Adapter.
4. Replaced the battery. After running some basic diagnostics I found that the old battery was dying anyway and replaced it with  a new one. While the laptop now holds a charge significantly longer, this did not affect the charging/not charging issue.
5. Removed/reinstalled the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery driver. No effect.
The only thing left to do that I can think of is to do a BIOS update and hope that works (Last update was September 2016); however, I'm not sure if I can even do that, as I know some laptops only allow BIOS updates when the laptop is plugged into the AC Adapter...Which isn't really an option for me.

Can anyone confirm whether or not that last point is true for the Aspire series?
If anyone has suggestions for other possible fixes I might try, I'd be very thankful.

    Hi Very Confused,
This looks like an issue with the port where the charger goes in, into the laptop. Please check if there is any pin damaged in the charging port. Please if possible get the charging port replaced. This should fix your issue.
