My unit has an open memory module slot. Can it be upgraded to 16gb and what would the 8gb module part number be? Thanks

I believe when they originally shipped they didn't have 8GB modules to test with, so the original specs called for 8GB max with two 4GB modules. Later on they released SKUs with 8GB using one 8GB module but didn't upgrade the specs to allow for the 16GB option. The chipset supports 16GB so you should have no problem adding the second module in. Make sure you get the same speed as is installed now, since they also changed speeds IIRC.

This model has 2 Memory slots and support Memory size per socket 1GB/2GB/4GB
Maximum System Memory Supported is 8GB
Support memory type DDRIII 1600MHz SODIMMs
Support memory voltage 1.5V and memory module package 204-pin DDRIII

Some officially support 4GB memory modules with part number :
    KN.4GB07.003
    KN.4GB0H.004

The above mentioned are the official details from Acer documentation.

That doesn't make sense. The only memory module in the unit is 8GB?
