In other words ACER has discontinued the 4GB model only 3 months after it was introduced! You can either purchase the 2GB model or pay extra and get the newer one that is coming out with a touch screen.

Acer keeps the information like that pretty close to the vest but they are launching and discontinuing new models all the time so you can't read anything into it. Technology changes and advances so quickly today that it can seem like major computer manufacturers are constantly releasing new hardware. 

This model probably didn't fail, there's a new Acer Chromebook and that's likely the next generation of it.
