Aspire 572PG can I make recovery media directly from the partition?

I have my daughter's Aspire V3-572PG-530Y laptop here stuck in the recovery loop running windows 10. The story is that the machine was running slow so she ran defrag but that didn't improve matters. The next day it still ran slow so she re-booted it and the battery went flat during boot-up, after which it got stuck in recovery loop.
I've tried most/all of the recovery options including restore point and re-install. Restore point 'failed' and re-installing from the recovery partition encountered a problem, went through 'undoing changes' then ended with a message saying that no changes were made.

In the recovery console I ran diskpart which reported four healthy partitions - system, recovery, push_button and something else. I ran CHKDSK which I left to run all night, in the morning it had about a screen and a half of bad cluster messages and one 'out of space' message, was still running in the morning but was apparently doing nothing at all so after a good while I quit that.

Where I'm at now is I have ordered a new 1TB HDD, an enclosure to put the old drive into the optical bay and I've downloaded windows 10. The reason I've got the new disk drive is 1. I want to preserve as much as possible of her user data and 2. given the reports of bad clusters and that it was running poorly I am suspicious of the old 1TB drive. My plan is to install windows 10 along with the driver package from the support site, then attempt to recover as much of her data. I'd also like to make the factory restore discs which I think is stored in an image on the original HDD's recovery partition. Is this possible? Is it even necessary/worthwhile?

What was the original factory-installed Windows version? Jack E/NJ

Jack E, it was windows 10 from the outset.

Have you tried to refresh the system to a factory state outside the Windows environment using the ALT+F10 cold boot method? You would have the option of saving your data instead of a factory re-set as shown in the video below. Jack E/NJ

Yes, I used the 'keep my files' option as shown above. I let it run a while then noticed it was 'undoing changes', after which it reported a problem and that no changes had been made.
I'm reluctant to re-try that option in case it kills the drive off completely.

Yeah, sounds like the drive has issues & failing even with the healthy partition report. Probably best bets are to clean install on the new drive either a MS generic Win10 (free  https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10   ) or try to get the ACER specific Win10 ($45 from a UK ACER vendor or service center over there). Then use a USB to SATA cable to get stuff off the old drive. I don't think I'd try to clone the old drive. Jack E/NJ

JackE, thanks for your help and insight.

I've got the drive into my laptop via the optical bay adapter and managed to copy off all of her personal files. I couldn't back up her full profile however because it was reporting read errors though amazingly her user files saved without a hitch. After that I ran the WD diagnostics tool and it failed on the basic SMART self-test with (Failed read test element) code 07.
I guess that means it's trashed.

If I install vanilla Windows 10 then load all the ACER drivers will I have the option of creating recovery media, or is that just an ACER thing? I can't get the recovery media, the checker tool doesn't recognise either the S/N or the SNID from the case.

Once the generic version is install, you'll be able to create the vanilla-flavored Win10 recovery stick or DVD, but not the ACER flavored Win10. Jack E/NJ
