I have a Aspire A517-51G laptop and I put a samsung 970 EVO M.2, 500 GB.
The factory prices are read 3500 and write 2800. My laptop costs half the prices. I do not know what is wrong. Also the current link as the image is divided is 4x. If anyone can help.
thanks.

  • Hi,
    Yes, the motherboard is capable of 4 lanes PCIe but it might have been capped in BIOS to only 2 lanes, hence the speed reduction, most of the laptops have only 2 lanes enabled except few high end laptops, so don't be alarmed when you see half the speed advertised by the manufacturers.
    My readings from A515-51 with Samsung Evo 960:

    I have installed the latest firmware proposed by ACER and yet it has not been fixed. Current Link Width is 4X.
    Something has not changed. in bios I do not know what to change;

    thanks.

    Hi,
    You can not change anything in BIOS, the 2 lane restriction was made by Acer and for a reason, I believe it was restricted to 2 lanes to match the rest of the hardware in the laptop.
