File explorer on the taskbar oepns extremely slowly compared to the normal windows e or on the desktop. How would I be able to fix this? Tried following the other guide but couldn't locate the appdata folder.

Right click on the slow taskbar File Explore. Unpin it from the taskbar. Then right click on the fast desktop File Explorer. Pin it to the taskbar. Jack E/NJ

Run file explorer again from taskbar. Then click on the view tab. Try setting view to file details or list, not icons. Jack E/NJ

Yes, but do you still see icon instead of a simple file listing? Jack E/NJ

Yes when I changed view to simple file listing I just see the listings and etc but however there is no difference in the speed of opening the file explorer.

OK. Press the Winkey + the Rkey. Enter msconfig.exe. Click services tab. Scroll down toward the bottom of the list for Window Search. If it is checked, uncheck it. Then click OK and reboot. Report back Jack E/NJ

@niku55 [1] How long have you had this machine? [2] Do you recall if the file explorer taskbar was always slow to load? [3} Do you have another application or program icon on your desktop that you load frequently from the desktop? If yes, right click on it and pin it to the taskbar. Compare its loading time from the taskbar with that from the desktop. Jack E/NJ

Disk is in low percentages i.e. less than 10%

I bought this laptop on the 26/8/18. File explorer has always been slow. There is a delay of other applications also. I tried Chrome and it opens instantly on desktop but takes a second or two longer on the taskbar. Was feeling like this SSD was slow but just seems as there is an issue with the taskbar pinned applications

OK. Try this. Open File Explorer again. Right click on the (C:) folder in the left hand panel. Copy this folder C: folder. Then move to your desktop. Right click and choose Paste as a shortcut on the desktop. Drag this shortcut to the taskbar to pin it there. Then close File Explorer.

Now try clicking on the (C:) shortcut in the taskbar that you just created. Does this taskbar shortcut now seem to open faster than the taskbar File Explorer?

Sorry for the late reply. Did exactly that with no difference whatsoever. I have noticed that all programs pinned to the taskbar open slowly compared to the desktop for example

OK. Let's try this experiment. Open Device Manager. Open display adapter folder, right click on the nvidia driver and temporarily disable it. Exit Device Mgr. Reboot if it asks to take affect. Then try the pinned app again to see if it opens faster. Jack E/NJ
