Recently my laptop got fried and had to send it in to get the motherboard replaced. When I got it back, I realized that the menu doesn't pop up anymore when I insert my earbuds. Because of this, I can no longer choose the earbud microphone over the default microphone on the laptop. I was wondering if there is some setting I have to change to get this menu back up everytime I put something in the audio jack. Thanks!

Hi, NickWonger, I would suggest you to try these steps and check if it helps.

1st I recommend you to try enabling auto-popup feature.

    a. Press Windows key + X, choose Control Panel, select Hardware and sound.
    b. Scroll down and select Realtek HD Audio Manager.
    c. Click folder icon just above and to the right of where it says analog back panel and just below Device Advanced settings.
    d. Click Enable auto popup dialog when device has been plugged in.
    e. Click OK twice.
    f. Now, restart computer and check the issue.

If the issue persists, I would suggest method 2. You need to set the headphone that you are connecting as default.

    a. Right click on the volume icon in the system tray and then click "Recording devices".
    b. Right click on the blank space in the popped up window and then select "Show Disabled Devices" and "Show Disconnected Devices".
    c. Right click on Headphone and then click "Enable".
    d. Highlight the microphone and then choose "Set as Default Device".
    e. Click Apply and Ok.

Hope this information helps. Reply to the post with updated status of the issue to assist you further.
