Horrible performance drop when charging on low battery. Acer Aspire E15 (E5-576G-54KG)

Hi I have a problem with my laptop (E5-576G-54KG). Whenever I play games while charging and the battery is 40% below, the performance will drop horribly to 15-22 fps only. But when it is 50% and above, the performance gets back to normal (120fps).

I've tried changing the power settings to all Maximum Performance and I have been trying almost all guides given in the internet n
and it seems that it still won't work.

And also the start up for this laptop is really slow compared to a friend's Aspire E14.
(Note that he is not using any SSD)

My friend has an Aspire E14 and he does not have any issues.

Any tips and solutions for this? Thanks!!

Well mate, the GPU of your laptop requires unconditional power and when plugged it, the games generally runs smooth and better. My assumption would be that the battery might need some base charge before it can supply GPU full power.

You can also right click on the battery icon on the bottom right and adjust the slider to better performance and see if it makes any changes mate.

@RanY2J is correct. You probably have either the smaller 45 or 65 watt power supply that can't cut the mustard when the battery's low. The 90 watter should fix you up fine. Jack E/NJ

Hi, so if I use a bigger power supply as my charger, would it affect my laptop's battery life in any way? Thanks!

hello jackE can i do this on my aspire 15 e5-576g-83cu, i mean using 90 watts charger rather than the 65 watts charger that comes with the laptop? it kinda bugs me when im on highload the battery is draining when in fact the charger is plugged. thanks in advance

Yes, you may use the 90watt chargers with part numbers shown below that come with e5-576g and many other models. Or you can use other mfr chargers with the same specs by googling "e5-576g" "replacement power" "90w" with the quotes. Jack E/NJ
