Microsoft Excel for Android

I recently purchased an Acer Chromebook CB3-431.  So far I am very pleased.  Chromebooks have come a long way in the three years since I bought my first one.

One of the things that I really liked was that I could load "most" of the Microsoft Android apps.  I was able to sideload them on my first Chromebook.  But since it was a first Generation Samsung 12, it was a bit buggy and I never used them.  I have loaded on Word, Powerpoint and Outlook on my Acer, and they work perfectly.  My problem is that Excel will not load.  It says it is not compatible with my OS.  That doesn't make sense to me since the other apps loaded and work perfectly.  I have tried it in development channel and right now I am in the beta channel.  It makes no difference.

It would be very nice to be able to run Excel again and not have to Export worksheets.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Did you install Microsoft excel from Chrome Store or Google play store?
Please try installing Microsoft Excel Online from the Chrome Web Store to your Chromebook and check the issue.

Office has long been a downside for many users for Chromebooks, one of the big advantages of the Google Play Store on Chrome OS is the hundreds of thousands of extra apps that it brings to the OS.It’s probably Microsoft’s doing. It’s possible that the company is simply blocking machines they deem unfit even if they have the specification to support Microsoft apps.On the Play Store listing the usual “unsupported on my device” message will pop up and block the install. it seems odd that Microsoft would block it. In the end, it’s probably just about the competition.

I see no apps for Microsoft in the Web Store except for Office Online.  I know I can use Google Sheet for most of what I do.  But I receive Excel files frequently and it would just be nice to have Excel.

For both Word and Powerpoint they required me to enter my Microsoft Office 365 key code.  Like I said, they work perfectly.  My Chromebook has an Intel Celeron processor.  And I have seen some posts when doing a google search of others installing Excel on their CB3-431. Maybe it is a fluke and will work itself out over time.  Thank you.
