Hi, You can install a M.2 SATA SSD and transfer your Operating system, use the HDD for your Data. The maximum SSD is 512GB. Request you to view the beow video for more clear information.

I have another Acer laptop and installed an M.2 NVME a couple weeks ago successfully. My system was lagging before the install and now super fast.

A few tips about the video where the guy messed up.

To open up the case after you take out the screws. Instead of using the blue plastic tool in the video I used a gift card with no value on it. That opened up the case and didn't break any clips. If you don't have a gift card you can use a credit card or even one of those small plastic clips from plastic bags holding the bread.

The guy also tried to wing it and take a screw from another location that didn't work. You need an M.2 screw. My laptop didn't provide one and most M.2s you buy don't provide it. I bought my M.2 screws on eBay. You just need 1 but I bought 2 in case I lost one for $2. The M.2 screws are extremely small. This is the listing where I bought the screws

sorry about the double post. Don't think it showed up at first. Every board is different.

Here are other things to consider when cloning the HDD to the M.2  After I physically installed the M.2 into my laptop it is blank. Before the clone I was very careful that Windows was completely up to date, all the updates were installed and then I temporarily turned off the automatic updates.

The reason I was very careful with the updates issue is a couple years ago I cloned a 2.5 HDD SATA to a 2.5 SSD SATA without checking if there were updates before the clone. After cloning the SSD tried to immediately update but couldn't and then Win10 crashed.

As for cloning programs, there is Macrium, Acronis, and a few others. Some M.2 companies have their own programs and I used that. For example, I installed a Corsair M.2 NVME. Before the purchase, I knew there was software included. However, when I got the M.2 there was no documentation or links in the documentation indication of software. So I went to the Corsair support site and found the software there.
