Bios not booting from M.2 MX500 on Aspire TC780-ACK15

I have purchased an Aspire TC780-ACK15 and installed a Crucial MX500 M.2 SSD. It appears in the BIOS as Disk 0 - so it is recognized by the system. I used the Acronis Cruical software to 'clone' the existing 2TB HDD.  When I disconnect the HDD, the system errors out.  I would prefer to boot from the M.2 SSD instead of the HDD.  The BIOS is set for AHCI and I don't see a way to change that to M.2.
Please help.
John
