    i just tried what comongo said, but accidentally deleted my original driver and didnt fix the problem. any suggestions on how to restore my driver?

    Just download it from the Acer support site and install it.

    I found a solution that actually works. Hold the windows key and the X key down simultaneously. A Black box will appear on your screen. When it does, touch the B key. You can then use the sliding scale to adjust your brightness. Works every time when none of the others work.

    @djforrest, with the normal Windows hotkeys, a Windows-X should open the Quick Link menu, with shortcuts to many tools, but not a display options menu.

    @billsey You are correct that Win+X opens the menu. But if you then press B, it opens the Mobility Centre which includes a screen brightness slider.

    I wonder if that slider is handled differently than the normal one in Settings; System; Display?
