How long should the black screen be there for a factory reset?

If I brick the machine, would I still be able to send it in to ACER for service repair? I think they quoted like 199.00 USD or so to send it in.

If there are no obvious signs of physical damage or user mods (like trying to remove a soldered-chip), ACER service shouldn't care how it got bricked. So whatever service reason you gave to them before to get the $199 quote, should be the only reason they need now to honor the quote. But make sure the quote is for also fixing the problem, not just diagnosing it. Jack E/NJ

So I just did a clean install of just Ubuntu, and everything seems to be working. The touchpad, and the monitors now work via the HDMI port. When I have Win 10 going, none of the monitors would work outside of the generic screen. And when I hit the Windows Key + P, it would tell me on the right sidebar that I needed to install drivers and that displays functions would not work. I am wondering if Ubuntu is able to do this, that it is a sign that the integrated processor and graphics card are in fact working -- and that the hardware is healthy, or at least working to a point!? The funny thing for me is that I have wiped my SSD, but as I have launched my troubhooting USB Key (Hirensbootcd) and I have run a GPU-Z scan, it still says that there is a "Microsoft Basic Display Driver" active. Which is odd given that Win 10 is not on the machine. Do you think that a corrupted Microsoft Basic Display Driver got stuck in the GPU / Graphics Card? Is there any way to fix and rest that? Just brainstorming at this moment. Kind of feel like leaving the laptop as a UBUNTU machine. And just buying a new PC/Laptop for Windows. Also, would it be possible and safer to try and install the AMD driver software from UBUNTU? Would there be any need for that?

Might possibly be board- or chip-level firmware by AMD. Not sure how to change it.  As for the AMD drivers. if they're made for Ubuntu it should be OK.

You said earlier >>>Win 10 Home 10.0.17134>>>ACER recovery media flash drive>>>I will try again. >>>

This was one of the likely update culprits. Did you try again to install the original Win10 version from the ACER recovery media flash drive? I think this probably has to be done with the router turned off so updates can't sneak in.

Ahh, no. I did not install it without the router or no internet connection. Might help.

Though, I do not think that the ACER Win 10 recovery media process even gets to a point where you can input the wifi. It does for the generic Win 10 media creation USB tool.

That's weird? The ACER recovery stick should auto install all the correct drivers. Jack E/NJ
