I too, tried to install the latest Radeon drivers but it didn't go through and things were a bit wonky. So let's try to get you sorted. First off, go to the product page for your Acer An515-42 laptop and download the original VGA driver (https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support-product/7605?b=1&pn=NH.Q3RAA.002). Then, using the AMD Cleanup Utility (which can be downloaded here https://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/AMD-Clean-Uninstall-Utility.aspx) remove the botched driver install. Once it is finished you may be prompted to reboot after viewing the log of the uninstall and once you enter the system again, locate the Acer VGA driver you downloaded and proceed through that install. Hope this helps.

The drivers installed only support 2500u and the Vega 8, it cannot provide the updated drivers for the RX 560X, AIDA64, HWInfo, GPU ID and others cannot identify the RX 560X and the only place that does are the AMD drivers. To be able to run computer, rendering or any improved acceleration on the 560x I need to be able to install the latest drivers. Under Windows 10 1803 there seems to be a problem that locks the machine to a black screen preventing access and requiring the reset of the OS to either a reset or restore to a previous restore point. I have has a machine working with Windows 1709 and have managed to keep the 17.40 drivers and install the RX 500 Desktop drivers 18.7.1, this updates the drivers for the RX 560x, but is still being registered as an RX460 in games as well.

Have reset my machine that had Windows 1803 update and back to build Windows 1709 and will do the same as the other machine I have and see if I can repeat the process.

Can someone in Acer please contact AMD and get them to update the driver support list to cover the X series RX 5xx cards for both mobile and desktop and we also need updated drivers for the Ryzen U series APU for the Vega portion of the processor.

Willing to work with you Acer as I think this combo is a great idea, just needs to be executed by AMD a little better, also have the ability either disable the Vega or specify the primary GPU for gaming.

I am having the same problems too. Can't update the RX 560X to the latest drivers because of this. I have also updated my bios to 1.08 but the problem still exists.

Hmm you have got the same problem as I had but don't worry I have a quick workout for it
Follow what this guy did for Vega 8, and then your Rx 560x will change into 460 but it doesn't matter as the performance will still remain the same
If you really want to change name then I suggest u redo the process with 460 (after installing Vega 8 driver) and choose Rx 560 driver in the list available ( be sure to uncheck only show compatible drivers)

I second this. Install the latest drivers available for the RX 560X based off AMD's website and select the RX 560X <- yes it is available for selection if you uncheck Only show compatible drivers and scroll through the list. If it sounds confusing I'll see if I can whip up a guide of sorts later on. The performance is also much better in games for me. Here is a screen shot of the Radeon Settings:

The problem with this approach is that the Radeon Settings panel moves quite slowly and changes made in it is not being registered when applied (at least in my case...tried working without the Radeon Settings panel but it's needed at the end of the day). Don't get me wrong, the AMD drivers for the graphics card work ok as per my screenshot, but the latest available drivers from AMD no longer have support for the Vega 8 (I don't see it listed as an option when browsing through the available drivers when using Device Manager to install). Installing the RX 560X driver usually results in my system locking up when Windows update attempts to install a suitable driver for the Vega 8 (which is listed as Basic Display Driver) which leads me to think that there is a unified driver which supports both the Vega 8 and RX 560X (as evidenced by Acer's own drivers and the WHQL certified drivers off Windows update). The only one who is yet to supply this unified driver is AMD themselves.
