I've opened MS Outlook 2010 today. And at opening I saw - The file My_1.pst is not a personal folders file. I tried to open MS Outlook once time more and my laptop shut down. After I can't launch it, I need to extract my data from Outlook and to handle problem with laptop. I've no idea how to open ost files and also .pst.

.ost files are a special case, they are created on the fly by Outlook to cache the contents of your inbox so you don't have to download the whole thing from the server each time you connect. .pst files do pretty much the same thing, but typically remove the messages from the server when they've been added to the ,pst file. You'll need to know where the file is located before you can do much more. I gather Outlook crashes when it can't open the file? If the file is an .ost you can just delete it and Outlook will recreate it. If it's a .pst we'll have to jump through more hoops.
