Hi,

I have installed Linux Mint 18.3 Cinnamon on my Laptop (Acer Aspire E 15). Now I am not able to enter BIOS anymore by pressing F2 when starting!
Only GRUB will show up.
Maybe it could also be a Linux problem. But maybe not. At least I found nothing similar in the Linux forums.
I have no idea.
Thank you very much!

If I were in your shoes, I would delete the Ubuntu BCD entry by following the post by TTorler2 and then delete my Ubuntu installation (delete the ubuntu partitions) and then start completely over by following the post by @JordanB.

I always make sure I have the latest BIOS.

I don't have any more suggestions.  Good luck.

Edit:  If you're following my instructions for latest Ubuntu 18.xx, then when you're adding Grub to the Trusted Secure boot settings (Select an UEFI file as trusted for executing), it's  USB1>>EFI>>boot>>grubx64.efi

It's important to add grubx64.efi to the trusted secure boot settings in UEFI before you install Ubuntu (or Mint).

Did you get it working?  If you don't have Windows installed, you'll probably have to temporarily remove your SSD/HDD (your boot drive) to regain access to UEFI.

Using USB1>>EFI>>Boot>>grubx64.efi is probably not the preferred choice by most linux users when adding grub to the trusted secure boot settings.

It would seem that a better choice for most users to install Mint or ubuntu would be to follow the @JackE method....although either method will work.

    1. Go in to BIOS settings and create a supervisor password
and disable secure boot and enable the F12 boot menu
    2. Boot your Ubuntu USB by tapping F12 at boot and then install Ubuntu or mint
    3.  Go in to BIOS and enable secure boot and add grub to trusted secure boot settings.           HDD0>>EFI>>Ubuntu>>grubx64.efi....and give it a proper name like 'ubuntu' and then save exit
    4.  If necessary, go back in to BIOS settings to the Boot tab and use F6 key to make sure Ubuntu is at the top.
