Hello everyone. I'm pretty new to this forum, and I thought it would be fun to share some laptop modifications and tweaks! Feel free to post any cool ideas you have, or software that may help benefit those using laptops, desktops, etc.

I'll start off by showing... My liquid cooling modification for the Acer Predator Helios 300!
This mod was actually incredibly simple and effective, is still portable(can be used without the LCU dock) and requires very little physical modification. I used copper tubing, sheet, an external LCU and some no spill quick connect fittings. This is just a rough draft technically, as I'm going to create a custom water block for this. The quick connect couplings were much bigger than I thought when I ordered them. My final mod will not be as bulky on the back.

I would suggest ordering a spare bottom case and saving your original, as you'll need to remove the "fake vent" area on the back of the laptop. Other than that, you just need to remove some of the black paint on the heatsink to allow heat transfer from the heatsink to the LCU sheet/pipe. You can repaint it afterward if you prefer.

The results were pretty amazing. I while using MSI afterburner, I overclocked my GPU core clock to +156 and memory clock to +500. For my CPU, I used Throttlestop with stock voltages and just set the Speed shift eep to 0, which is not technically overclocking, but "tricking" the i7 cpu to be able to run all cores to 3.6-3.8ghz(yes this actually works).

So based on stock voltages and a pretty heavy overclock, my temperatures were:
CPU - 68 degrees max
GPU - 62 degrees max
They averaged in the mid to high 50's.

This is a big difference (15-20 degrees) from my stock settings without any overclock, in which I reached an average of about 75-80 degrees for GPU and about 85 for CPU.

MOD's FTW!
