Laptop won't turn on after adding SSD

Hi there,

I have an Acer E15 E5 575 5476 with a 1TB HDD in it. I recently bought a Crucial MX500 500GB 3D NAND SATA M.2 and installed it with the HDD still in there using this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JzYePaxunAI

Installed it but the laptop won't turn on. Take out the SSD and laptop turns on just fine. Any advice on what the problem might be? I checked on Crucial's website and it said this SSD is compatible with my computer so not sure what the problem is. This is the first time I've tried adding an SSD.

Thanks

The problem could be in either the SSD or the M.2 connector.

You can also try updating the BIOS to latest version. See if that will help.

Download latest BIOS from the link: https://www.acer.com/ac/en/GB/content/support-product/6752?b=1
Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

Thanks, do you know which one I'm supposed to download to update BIOS there? There's a lot of download links like "1.Fix ME security issue by updating to 11.8.50.3399, 1. Update GOP to 1066 and vbios to 1051. 2. Update EC to v1.10. 3. Update" etc.

Download the latest 1.32. It contains all fixes from the previous versions.

Sorry, I don't see your other suggestions. Is it about the problem being in the SSD or the M.2 connector? I did download to the latest version but it still didn't work. Do you think going into BIOS without the SSD (just the HDD) and then installing the SSD would fix anything? The laptop literally will not power on with the SSD installed. Or, is it possible if I go for a lower GB like 200GB SSD it would maybe work? Do the different GBs mean more/less power and it's overpowering the motherboard? Thanks

What type of SSD are you trying to install SATA or NVMe? You can try with lower capacity SSD maybe that would work.

I don't think the one with more capacity overpowers the laptop. We can't know what the problem is for sure.
