Hello.

The Acer Iconia Tab 10 A3-A50 has a auditory problem. There is a function on this tablet that can be enabled, called "woofer". The problem described in this post ONLY occurs when this woofer function is activated.

When the woofer function is turned on, two problems follow:
1. All sound that is produced by the speakers in the tablet have an accompanying buzzing sound to them. The buzzing sound is low in volume, but still loud enough to be heard.
2. When the speakers are NOT producing any sound, there is still the same buzzing sound occasionally coming out of the tablet. This buzzing seems to be appearing when the tablet is put under load, for example if you open an app.

I have reason to believe that this problem is present with ALL tablets of this model. I say this because when I first discovered this problem I quickly sent it back to the store I bought it from, and was offered a new tablet of the same model. That new tablet suffered from exactly the same problem.

This is a shame because it makes the high quality speakers (compared to other tablets) useless unless you want the tablet to always be buzzing. I hope Acer finds a way to solve this problem via a software update.

Sincerely, a customer from Sweden.

Try starting it up in "Safe Mode" and see if you get the noise in there or not. If you don't, that means it is software related. So then I would check the device for bad apps, viruses, malware, etc.
If, however, it still makes the noise in "Safe Mode" then it is likely hardware and you need to contact the Acer support or a local tech to see about fixing it.
To get into "Safe Mode" please do the following.
First turn off the tablet. Next press and hold "Power" until you see the manufacturers logo on the screen, then release the power button. "Quickly" press "Volume Down" and hold it for few seconds until you see the message "Safe mode: ON" or something similar.
If you wanted disable it, simply repeat the steps above, and you should see "Safe Mode: OFF" rather than on.

I have the same problem on one of the  A3-A50 tablets, when using the "woofer" I get a lot of distortion so I've learned to live without it.
    We own 2
A3-A50 tabs but only one has the fault but as I use headphones most of the time and the woofer turns off when headphones are used it's not really a problem for me.
