Win 10 Home Product Key

I had to replace a hard disk in a client's XC-705, previous hard disk failed completely. The system came out pre-loaded with Windows 10 Home. Where do I get the Windows 10 Home Product key if there is no Product Key sticker on the box.

I got this message after I replaced the HDD. "We can't activate Windows on this device because you don't have a valid digital licence or product key. Go to the Store to buy a geniune Windows. Error code: 0x803F7001."

The Product Key on preinstalled Operating Systems is embedded in the BIOS of the Motherboard.  When you reinstall it will pick up the Product Key and activate the system automatically. You need to use the Recovery media that you created from your device. if you have not cretaed one you may get the USB recovery media from Acer store or contacting Acer support in your region.
    Acer south Africa : https://www.acer.com/ac/en/ZA/content/service-contact
    Acer worldwide : http://www.acer.com/worldwide/support/

You can also try to do a clean installation by creating a Windows 10 Media creation tool.

I may be wrong here, but I believe with the UEFI BIOS the key is stored in the UEFI partition on the HD, and lost if you haven't backed things up before your HD fails. This is the main reason why both Acer and Microsoft suggest creating a recovery image before doing much of anything else. The only solution I know of if the drive is completely unrecoverable is to either install from the Acer recovery media, which will provide a new key, or install from a retail version of Windows purchased just to get the key.

So, I found the Windows product key with the ProduKey program. It's hidden in the BIOS.
Once I had this, I've changed the windows product key in settings.
However, this wouldn't activate, so I've logged into Microsoft on the PC and then tried again. This time it worked.
    Hope this helps someone.

You told us you did that but not HOW you did that to change the product key. Normally people don't need to change product key unless it is like from Home to Pro version upgrade.
