Hi,

I have just spent over an hour trying different things on an Acer xc-603g so I can run some specialized diagnostic tools.
What I want to do is run bootable tools such as hard drive diagnostic tools, various versions of Linux or other tools I have that boot from CD.

Anyway I have tried adding a password to the bios settings. I have disabled secure boot. I however can not find any setting to disable UEFI and revert to legacy boot. If this can not be done my diagnostic tech tools are worthless on this machine. I have not been able to get any bootable discs to run other than a Windows installer cd which has UEFI boot built in.

This is the only machine I have ever come across so far that will not let me disable UEFI even temporally to run specialized tools. Does anyone have any ideas how I can get around the forced UFEI boot on this machine? If not and this is going to be common for Acer on consumer level products I will be reluctant to work on Acer consumer level machines as it makes certain diagnostics take much longer possibly even changing parts to find issue by trial and error.

Thanks

The procedure for legacy support mode in the bios settings is as follows:

    1. Disable secure boot
    2.  Set Launch CSM to Always
    3. Save/Exit

However, you must have BIOS P11.B2 or higher.

If you don't have P11.B2 or higher then my advice is to update the BIOS to P11.B4.  Download P11.B4 and look for the WinFlash instructions in the Appendix folder.

Note:  The BIOS versions with an "L" are only for Acer computers that come pre-installed with Linpus Linux from the factory.
    I'm not an Acer employee.
