I also updated to Windows 10 last year because they sent me a notification that if I upgrade to Windows 10 that It was free so I did but then it said I had a Windows update but I thought I already had Windows 10 so I updated in early 2018 and I think it has messed up my Laptop. Please help. I need my printer bad. Maybe I should go back to the 8,1 version because maybe that's why it would not work in the Philippines this last trip.
And my HP 2130 series printer will not print. PLEASE HELP ME.  This is driving me crazy . I have spent days trying to fix it so my printer to work and I was thinking that I need to go back to the Windows 8.1 because the Laptop worked great until I upgraded. Thanks in advance.  VF

If the Win10 downgrade didn't wipe out the hidden ACER recovery partition, I suggest that you try to upgrade back to Win8.1 ASAP. With Win8.1, you will at least be guaranteed of normal Windows maintenance updates till 2023. With Win10, you have no such guarantees much beyond its next major update release due to Microsoft's new and unfavorable lifecycle policy. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/13853/windows-lifecycle-fact-sheet  And, as you've already learned, these major Win10 updates can wreak havoc on failry new machines.

I suggest that you first back up your system as it is now. Then check that the F12 boot and the D2D recovery options are both enabled in your BIOS menu Main tab. Then save these BIOS settings and exit. Then do a cold boot. When the machine is turned on, immediately press and hold the ALT key while tapping the F10. A Win8.1 recovery screen should appear as in the video below. Follow instructions to re-set the machine to a factory-fresh Win8.1 state. Jack E/NJ
