Hey all,
Since the last windows update I noticed that windows is using the GPU too much instead of the integrate intel card. On startup, Nvidia GPU activity shows GPU usage for chrome.exe and lockapp.exe. In time more, app join the list (for example Microsoft Photo). I tried the usage by from NVIDIA Control Panel (Manage 3D settings --> Program Setting and then selecting integrated graphics"), and still, after restart the apps still using my GPU. Is there any way to block the GPU access and limit it for just few apps ? I’m using the GPU only when I’m watching videos using MPC and playing games using Steam. (rarely).

I thought about blocking the GPU driver but I don’t want to disable and reenable it daily.

Are you on build 18362.329? If yes, then even I had that problem. What I did was open one of the programs and close it. Then I went to NVidia control panel and set my default graphic processor to Intel HD and again to Auto-Select. Now I don't have any of those 4 apps running on NVidia GPU.

    I am on 18362.239
I had that issue initially, but then after I forced my apps to not use hardware acceleration, it stopped.
I still have two non gaming apps using GPU - startmenu exp host (shouldn't be removing this) and text input app. No matter how many times i try disabling this on screen keyboard thingy, it keeps coming back. So gave up.

While answering OP is a nice touch, see that the spam bot necroed many old posts to put a service number in it that is part of an online scam.

People, do not call that number ;)

Maybe just update to some newer CU. Also have you applied the latest Intel Microcode updates?

Yes, as of June or July one. There is a newer one for August 28, but it is too new for my comfort.
