I ran a Stress Test on my sytem and the max was 92C that seems a little high.. Idle I sit around 40-50C  doing some light gaming it runs around 80C.. this Seems a bit high for me but I'm new to gaming laptops if anyone could advise. I just spend 1,500 on this machine I don't want one ill have to send back or go with another problem.. Also my windows key stopped working not sure why.

So I played with Throttle Stop a bit and got it around 80 on a stress test.. But then I played some fortnite and not even nearly maxed up my CPU and it got up to about 83 just playing one game.

These Predators run hot.  I've hit 93 playing Total War: Warhammer.  See the stickied thread at the top of the forum for some general advice on how to manage it.  One thing I've started doing is hitting the P-2 button on the lefthand side of the keyboard; that's the macro for max fan speed.  Hit that when loading a graphically intensive game and hit it again after you're done.  Swap in the FrostCore also as it can't hurt (reviews I read before purchasing said the FrostCore was just a gimmick and did nothing, but I've noticed it helping).

Also for whatever reason the Windows key stops working when you deactivate the touchpad.  I've gotten in the habit of activating the touchpad and hitting Win+L to lock my laptop right as I get up, then deactivating the touchpad when I get back.  I'm not sure why they've done it like this, but it doesn't bother me much anymore.

What stress test are you using?  Ambient is also a big factor.  My G9-793 with 7700HQ, GTX 1070, 32Gb RAM runs relatively cool idle temp is high 30's / low 40's C, equally it's undervolted.

Each CPU is unique so the exact undervolt values will differ.  My G9-793 can drop as low as -150.4mV, to ensure stability I generally opt for -132.8mV.  You should also defer the start up of ThrottleStop by two minutes to ensure no issue with PredatorSense as it uses the Intel XTU service to read CPU frequency etc.  Need to be mindful if the temp is peak or average over time, I use HW64 and log the data, generally my Predator 17 averages mid 70's C with peaks up to 85C under gaming load.

Tested this morning with stock thermal paste the notebook runs Prime95 Small FFT torture test without throttling CPU Core & Cache undervolted to 132.8mV, fans set to auto, CoolBoost is on, max frequency on all CPU cores (ambient 24C, notebook is raised on a cooler for maximum airflow)

Prime95 Small FFT is a brutal assault on the CPU, so if no thermal throttling systems set up is pretty good.  No doubt replacing the stock thermal paste will also reduce the temperature, no hurry as the operating temperatures are generally good.  I'll likely wait until I need to clean out the cooling system,, by then the notebook will be out of warranty.

If your going to run Prime95, also run HW64 and check for power & thermal throttling, I'm confident in my system as it's running below the limits at full bore.  To reduce the temperature one generally needs to take multiple small steps to get the desired result.

So i have it set to -125.00 and the cache set as well to match. Im still hitting 91 Degree's while playing fornite with my son and other games that are older i generally average around 80-85c While light gaming. That just seems high to me for a new computer while "state of the art Areo blade cooling system".  I have already installed another 32GB of Ram, and a 2TB SSD Samsung 860 so i will not be about it.. I wont get a refund on the other 500 worth of equipment i put into this. I just put cool sense on i will run another stress test...

The Prime95 Gets me to about 82C under full load. with a cooling pad and undervolting now at -130.8. Im just more worried about my System Longevity i made a deal with my wife to sell my gaming PC (2 years old) to something more portable and my man cave large screen TV to go on a small vacation. But i don't wanna have a system that will die in 2 years because of heat issues.  Temperatures seem to get higher when gaming then under a stress test.. I have played Fort Nite, PubG, WoW, Divinity Original Sin 2, and it seems to spike into the 90's at times.. I just turned cool sense on and i always keep my fans on high while playing games.

If Prime95 is testing Small FFT 81C is good, if Blend then a little high.  Your seeing more temp in games as the GPU is working in tandem with the CPU on a shared cooling system.  Limit the FPS to 60 or 75 as the internal display is only good for 75Hz, unless you overclock it to 100Hz.

If testing I'll always run the GPU unrestrained, however if gaming I'll look to restrain it if reasonably possible as no point in the GPU rendering hundreds of FPS on a 75Hz display generating excessive heat & nose.  I know V-sync impacts input, equally some games have built in FPS limits and the Nvidia Control Panel has options.

I have CoolBoost set on and just leave the fans on auto, games are all on ultra, with CPU set for Best Performance, GPU restrained to either 60 / 75 FPS, rarely see anything past 85C.  If anything did run overly hot I'd also cut Turbo as majority of games just don't need 4 cores, 8 threads running at 3.4GHz.

Just ran Metro Last Light Redux benchmark, full Turbo CPU & GPU, CPU didn't break 82C, GPU 80C, bearing in mind these are maximum peak values not the average temperature.

This is with six desktops of other Apps open as well, so the FPS is a little inconsistent between runs, although NVidia's latest driver has helped to pick up a few more FPS since last I ran the benchmark.

Thank you I will try limiting the FPS in games.. I didnt even think about that i guess there is no reason to run 120 FPS in fortnite when the monitor only handles 75. I turn the fans on Max and i average in the 80's when i run any game it seems with nothing else open. I am under volted to -130.8, I have cool sense on, I will look in the control panel to limit the fps I have not seen the option yet,

Where in the Geforce Experience is there a way to limit your FPS?

Well Fps locked, was running a solid 78-82 while running wow that was with my fans set to Max with the cool master fan in the drive bay, I wanted to put another HDD in that spot.. But it is worth the risk. .. FPS would not lock turbo was not on.  while IDLE still sitting around 40-50c doing nothing at all. It seems while doing gaming even light i need max fans running to keep it around 80C, i have tried older games and newer games.

You can lock the FPS with V-Sync in the Nvidia Control Panel or you can try Nvidia Inspector to restrain the FPS to a given number.

Idle seems to be a little on the high side have looked at what processes are running in the background, my G9-793 is currently 40C and it's got multiple apps open, it's not doing very much with just around 5% CPU utilisation, at full idle it will cycle down as low as 32/34C with ambient being around 25C. Notebook is set to max performance, fans auto and on a cooler, however the fans are rarely powered on.

TBH high 70's to low 80's is fine for a gaming notebook under load.  The FrostCore doesn't have any real impact on CPU/GPU temperatures, however it does help with keeping the mainboard cooler when the ambient temperature is high, I've had mine installed since day one.

This is where i sit pretty much all the time at IDLE maybee ill try uninstalling Norton and see if that helps at all.  I am almost 10 Degrees higher then you at  under idle load.
