Hi!
Have E5-573G running windows 8.1. Yesterday found new Firmware_Synaptics_1.17_A_A for my model and installed. And got an issue - cursor moves much slower than before and multi touch stops work. How do I cab revert this firmware update?

Open Device Manager. Go to Mice and other pointing devices or the HID folder. Right click on the Synaptics properties. Then the driver tab. If the rollback option is available, click on it. Jack E/NJ

What issue did the touchpad have that you thought the BIOS update would fix? Jack E/NJ

    Improve touchpad performance

    Date: 2016/07/06

    Version:1.17

    Vendor:Synaptics

    Size:1.3 MB

    Download

The firmware was newer than installed one, so I thought it can't be worse. I was wrong... Found the same issue on the web, but no solution for it.

OK, another question is - now do I can to increase cursor speed (increase touchpad dpi)? Now for full hd screen resolution to move cursor from one side of a screen to another I need to move cursor twice. So one full touchpad panel can cover only 45-50% of screen.

Besides running control panel's main.cpl, no. Do you recall the original BIOS firmware version number? Jack E/NJ

Unfortunatelly no, I did not memorized it. And one more issue I found - multitouch stoped work.

If you can identify the existing Synaptics driver in Device Mgr, uninstall it, exit and reboot the computer. Jack E/NJ

Did it, but everything left the same. This is not driver issue - this if firmware issue, because before updating firmware to v1.17 it worked fine.

Due to the significant danger of bricking, I'm not a big fan of messing with BIOS firmware on a working machine with an issue like this which seems more annoying than disabling. So at this point, if it were mine, I'd do a system backup. Then probably first try an ALT+F10 cold boot Win8.1 refresh to see if it can be made play nice with the current v1.17 firmware. The main drawback is that the WinUpdates would be have to be re-done. If still no joy, I'd probably then take a chance with v1.25. After that, I'd probably try to downgrade to v1.11 by tweaking its executable. That's what I'd do. But it's your machine. Jack E/NJ

Thank for help. I just tried to install Win10 and it works fine with touchpad, so this is conspiracy to make users use win10...

Congrats. You might want to double-check Disk Management to see if the hidden ACER Win8.1 recovery partition is still healthy after the Win10 downgrade.  :)  Also check Device Manager for any red or yellow warnings. Jack E/NJ

i am posting to help e5 573 owners to get into the advanced options on their bios. acer says it is not possible without flashing the bios however there is a way!!!!
open bios by pressing F2 at acer logo
    press fn + TAB
    nothing will happen
    press F10 and save
open bios by pressing F2 at acer logo
    advanced options is available! wuala!

I do not think this will help with your mouse problem however. you can increase VRAM by upping a feature here and adding a corresponding registry key. also there are overclocking options. enjoy users! it is YOUR COMPUTER
