SSD for Acer GX-281 EB11

Just talked to Tech Support and they are really confusing.

So, to the dearest community who have actually purchased these machines. I am looking for someone who has bought an SSD for a GX-281-EB11 . Which SSD did you get?
I am an entire n00b when it comes to SSD. I don't understand the differences when they talk about M.2 Nvme Pcie... Is it possible to just buy a regular looking SSD that looks like a harddrive and install it via SATA connection? thats where its confusing. Any help would be great. Also they say that they are only compatible to 256gb.... I find that kind of destructive, as im sure they only tested in their labs one ssd drive..

Hi,
You could be able to install a NVMe/PCIe SSD, recommended maximum size by Acer is 256GB but you might be able to install a higher capacity SSD( as you can see in the link below, someone has used a 512GB drive).

Yes, if you want to install a 2.5" SSD, the intended SSDs are fine.

so a 2.5" sata III the actual "drive" is enclosed which the form factor would be m.2 would it be standard SATA cable hook up? I understand to a degree but the tech guy i spoke with has me very confused. He went on to tell me that my Gx281-Eb11 (ryzen 7) isn't compatible at all with SSD but the lower end Gx281 (Ryzen 5) is. I would prefer the 2.5" enclosure type instead of the "stick version". Again any help is appreciated.

with that being said. it supports M.2 but not M.2 nvme pcie?? or am i just reading this wrong or getting myself backwards?

Could you please go to Device manager(right click start), expand Disk drives and post the snip.

If you click on the link below, you'll see someone with your system using an M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD (Intel 600P)...so therefore you can use either M.2 NVMe PCIe or M.2 SATA. It's entirely up to you. NVMe is faster but a little more expensive.

I assume your system also has Ryzen 7 1700 with AMD RX 580
