Guys, would it be safe to install Windows 10 DCH drivers which is showing as available when checking using the Intel Driver & Support Assistant software as
    Latest version: x.x.x.6577
    Installed Version: x.x.x.6025
Seeing how there are simply no updates from Acer ever since this thread started a year ago. The above update is a Feb 2019 update. Please reply with your technical views as don't want to bork my system

If you system isn't broken, I wouldn't mess with the drivers...the issue is with Windows 10 version 1809 (October update)...if you still have 1803, stay on that, and use the RS4 drivers found on the Acer site. I did a fresh install of 1809, and I've had problems ever since...I have 6577 drivers, and it's no help. I spend my time on the Ubuntu-half of my hard-disk these days...Maybe the 1903 update to Windows will fix the issue; but I'm not expecting Acer to fix it at this point.

I am on 1803 April update and my win update never updates (even as on date) to 1809  by itself even if i use a vpn. But I had this display driver issue and if I remember, I did install a driver using the Intel tool and there on I never faced any issue. Now based on my current setup, the utility does show the availability of the driver as I mentioned above considering it very well evaluates my entire components before offering the update. They do put a disclaimer that if you are on a OEM machine then it's better you don't install it and use the manufacturer site for any updates but I prefer my system to be up to date in terms of all software and drivers. The DCH is a critical update and can really harm the system if anything goes wrong. My system is a E5-576G-5762 on Win 10 64 bit SSD and nothing else.

    Latest != Greatest.

If you system is working; don't mess with it. That's my opinion. The juice is not worth the squeeze.

There is risk with an update...and if there isn't a NEED for the update (Intel driver updates seem to be more about adding video game functionality) then don't do it.

IF it matters to you to have a higher-number in the driver version; then go for it...but do it understanding there is risk.

I'd leave your driver along for the same reason you're leaving Windows at 1803...because that is what's tested and what works.

Agree with you Brendan, I am staying put. BTW as I said, my system does not receive the Win Oct update when I check using the win update.
Side note : Nvidia pushing out back to back graphics driver update and had updated Feb 2019 ver but yesterday another March one came along. A fact remains is when we have a OEM rig it is better best to avoid standalone updates using individual software update utilities but sadly the OEM's provide update very frugally. I believe even till date the Sceptre vulnerability is not addressed till date by the OEM.

Where are you seeing a March version of Intel U620 drivers? I don't see that on the Intel site.

    LOL...that you did.

FYI: With latest Intel drivers and latest Windows KB Patch, my Win10 1809 system has been running stable for a few days now...woo hoo!

Revisiting this post after March 2019. I stayed put waiting for Acer to put out a Win DCH Graphics Driver but as on date, there's no progress at all. Currently I am on Win 10 64 bit Ver 1909 build 1863.592 and the current graphic driver is x.x.x.6286 dtd. 15th Aug 2018 whereas as per the Intel Driver and support assistant shows the latest Win DCH graphics driver dtd. x.x.x.7584 dtd. 16th Dec 2019. I have attached screenshot of these details as well. I am fully updated on Windows update as well as Windows store apps and all third party installs and even manual updates of Nvidia graphics driver using Nvidia Gforce experience software. Would it be safe now to finally update the graphics software to the Win DCH series without seriously effecting my system in a wrong way as Intel states it's difficult to rollback once this Win DCH is updated. I am facing constant force close of my system for no reason without any overheating or powerplan wrong settings - Event id 41, Task category 63 Kernel Power - critical error message in the event viewer "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly." I observed on the Intel page 'Kaby Lake' is not mentioned which is the series for this system. Also Acer care center never showed a update since i purchased this machine from US currently being used in India. Experts please advise views. Thanks!

Please, don't hijack other people's threads and specially don't write in those that are as old as this one, create a new thread for whatever problem you're facing or advice you're seeking in the future.

I'm asking the part of whether it's safe or not to install drivers directly from Intel since you already made another thread for that error you're having no to drag this thread along any further.

Yes, you can install those Intel drivers (hell, you've been installing the NVIDIA ones too haven't you? :D), if there were any compatibility problems you'd notice it or it'd tell you (the installer program that is).

    You could do this:
    1. Download those drivers to your system.
    2. Disconnect from the Internet.
    3. Uninstall your current drivers, just for good measure, I'm sure it's not necessary but what the hell.
    4. Reboot, you may see things odd because the primary drivers are not installed, not to worry.
    5. Install the drivers you downloaded earlier.
    6. Reboot.
    7. Connect to the Internet and that's it.
It could happen that Windows Update ain't happy with those drivers and reverts you back to whatever drivers it deems appropriate, but that's another thing altogether and you wouldn't need to worry either. You could always search how to prevent Windows Update from updating drivers, but it's something I wouldn't recommend.

Lol, there's no ransom to hijack a post in here. It's just the relevance of the post in line with the original post and I am sure I am not violating any community guidelines in case of the contrary which I am sure a moderator would highlight it. Have read your input's, thanks and am looking forward to some known Trailblazer's inputs as well.

    Hi @roshanamin,
In my humble opinion I think the drivers provided by Acer are most suitable for your system because the drivers are modified to suit your system but Windows might update your system drivers whenever Windows decides the newer driver is better for you, Intel drivers are made for variety of PCs and laptops, so I would avoid those drivers.

Please don't post multiple posts on the same issue. This is NOT a BIOS firmware problem. It sounds more like the spring-loaded safety interlock switch or the battery reset switch are being physically triggered due to a misaligned or loose case cover or loose screws. These spring loaded switches are usually located near the RAM sockets on mainboards and/or below the base cover  pinhole. Jack E/NJ

Hi @brummyfan2. Appreciate your inputs and I echo your thoughts. Before posting on this post the first time and even as on date, I of course went through the Acer software and S/N identifier service for drivers / software customized for my system but there are no updates compared to what is currently installed on my system. The query arose as the new graphic driver is a next gen leap from the legacy drivers to the new Win DCH drivers. So I am unsure why Acer is not releasing any update on this new platform as the version and time frame difference is quite huge if you see the screenshot above. Also it's another thing that the Acer Care center never provided any update since the past close to 2 years now. Even Windows update shows no update to the DCH driver. The Intel driver and support assistant scans the device on which it is installed and then shows available update and it is not the case as a generic case driver / software download page. Thank you for your inputs and lets see if any other trailblazers chime in as because it's just not merely a driver update query but I am facing a very annoying cold turkey shutdown randomly on daily basis as highlighted above and I feel it is related to the graphics driver. Also have to add in between I had faced a strange square kind of apperance of square box with pillars on the sides and I was shocked as my system did not suffer any physical drops or knocks. Also the halflife software used to cause solarization kind of photo effect on the display when used at times. I uninstalled the halflife software so that particular issue disappeared and so did that  pillarbox.

Hi @JackE, I have clearly clarified the matter and hope it's clear, there's no duplication. This post is regarding Win DCH drivers and the other post is regarding Acer Care center software. I thank you for your inputs.

Of course there's no rule regarding that, but it's necroposting and usually frown upon; common netiquette and all.

As for the part on waiting for a Trailblazer reply... that's a curious way you have looking for solutions to your problems, you seem to think forum titles equate experience or something, suit yourself anyway, you have plenty opinions available now.

It's your view which you are entitle to have and I have clarified which I needn't have but since you insinuated, that it was by no means hijack of the post with a reason assigned how.

As for the part on waiting for a Trailblazer reply, I don't think you see that I thanked you for your inputs and I just mentioned that I would also be interested in knowing some inputs from trailblazers "as well" ( I mentioned as well and not 'only trailblazers') so I hope that clarifies that for you and request that you do not misunderstand and come across as cynical. I am sure Forum titles are not bought but earned due to experience and expertise which we all acknowledge and respect and not in the manner that you are putting words across that I equate forum titles equating to experience which is not the case. I feel I am fairly literate about netiquette and have nowhere come across in a rude manner anywhere though I get the feelers that it's not the case conversely. Good day to you.

    @roshanamin

I'm going to give you my advice and opinion based on the problems you're having in the other threads.  I don't have an E5-576G.

My advice is you should order your Original Factory Recovery Media from Acer and get a fresh start.
There's only two ways to put your PC back to factory condition (with Windows 10).

    1. Use your USB recovery drive that you created with Acer Care Center app immediately after taking your computer out of the box for the very first time.
    2. Order your recovery media from Acer.

For example, if your laptop came with Windows 10 1803, and you're currently using 1903, it won't take you back to 1803 if you try an ALT+F10 reset.

The Intel DCH FAQ on going from legacy driver to DCH warns of "Catastrophic" problems if you don't follow the correct procedure. It also warns of the inability to roll back.  Now I'm not saying you accidentally installed a DCH driver.  I'm not saying that at all.  I'm just saying that in my opinion that sometimes if a mistake is made on drivers it's not so simple like the old days when you just rolled back.  I'm not saying that you made a mistake.  Maybe Microsoft made a mistake.  Maybe Intel made a mistake.  Maybe Acer made a mistake.  I have no idea.  Any time humans are involved...mistakes will be made.

    https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000031275/graphics-drivers.html

The only thing I know for sure is you can waste hours trying to figure it out.  And most of the time all you need to do is get a fresh start.

You can contact Acer on how to obtain recovery media.  I'm not sure how it works if you bought the PC in USA and currently reside in India.

    https://www.acer.com/worldwide/

After you reset your PC to factory condition, I would update the BIOS to the latest.  And then just let Windows update your Windows versions and drivers automatically.

Again, everything above is strictly my personal opinion.

Edit: If you have your files backed up and have your Acer OEM factory USB recovery drive, you can experiment all you want.....if you have some extra time on your hands and don’t mind starting over from factory condition.....if something goes awry with your experimentations/tinkering.

Edit2: As far as the automated Intel Driver Support Assistant goes.....I think Intel is in a much better position to tell you how their automated Intel Driver Support Assistant works and whether or not it is safe to use.  I've used it.  And I've used it test what it would do if I had a legacy driver and update to DCH driver.  Unfortunately it was too long ago and I can't remember the outcome.  But I was fully prepared to wipe the drive and start completely over from scratch with my USB recovery drive if I achieved "catastrophic".

    I'm not an Acer employee.

I was able to get the official intel driver to install by downloading the .zip version of the driver (and extracted it), going into device manager | right click intel 620 device | update driver | browse my computer for driver software | let me pick from a list of available drivers | have disk | and then selected the igdlh64 file from the \graphics subfolder from the intel driver

This allowed me to update the driver without getting a code 43 error or it complaining about needing the manufacturer driver

But seriously acer, you need to update your manufacturer driver. 23.20.16.4901 is NOT compatible with the 1803 update...

I've tried this for the driver updates 30.0.101.3113 beta and for the stable updates 31.0.101.3222 and 31.0.101.2111, but I can't locate a file called "igdlh64" in either of those zip archives.
