As the title says my Predator Z271 has been installed as a Generic PnP Monitor. I am using Windows 10, GTX 1080 card and connected by DP. Windows searches and insists there is nothing better out there. What have I done wrong?

You have not anything wrong. Acer monitors work on the “Plug-and-Play” principle, meaning that aside from physically connecting the monitor to both a power source and the computer, no other steps or driver are necessary to have the monitor function correctly on windows computer.

Windows will automatically detect your monitor and use a built in plug and play (PnP) driver to provide the supported resolutions in most cases. Plug and play monitors usually do not need a separate monitor driver.

Most of the functionality of the getting images from the operating system onto your monitor is incorporated into the video card driver. Not only Acer, most monitors from all manufacturers are all plug and play these days.
