How can I update my Intel Graphics driver?

XdxDXdxD Posts: 61Member Enthusiast
Whenever I try to use the installer from Intel, it doed that it can't install as manufacturer has installed a customised driver. Since my Predator's Intel Driver dates back to August, 2017, can I update it as a generic driver? Acer hasn't released any graphics driver update of its own.

If it were mine, I would NOT mess with it unless I  understood the nature & risk probability of the  'vulnerability'. Jack E/NJ

Within the next couple weeks, you should be getting a major Windows Update.  I assume the update will include an updated Intel graphics driver.

I would recommend just waiting for the automatic Windows Update. Your computer will automatically download it within the next 3 weeks.

You can manually install the latest Intel graphics driver at your own risk using either of the manual update methods.

    Method-A (Have disk method)

    ------------------------------------------------------------------
       Microsoft Windows* "Have Disk" Installation
    ------------------------------------------------------------------
    1.  Download the latest driver from Intel (download the zip file---not the exe file) and extract/unzip it.
    2.  Go to "Device Manager".
    3.  Expand "Display adapters" and double-click the graphics controller.
    4.  In the "Driver" tab, click "Update Driver".
    5.  Click "Browse my computer for driver software".
    6.  Click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer".
    7.  Click "Have Disk..." and click "Browse".
    8. Browse to the directory where you unzipped the file you
downloaded, click the "Graphics" folder, and select the
        "igdlh64.INF" file. Click "Open".
    9. Click "OK" and click "Next". The operating system will install
        the driver.
    10. Click "Close" and click "Yes" to reboot. The driver should now
        be loaded.

Well, I just was curious whether to have updated drivers for it. It hasn't shown any problems by the way.

OK. But, if it remains the same version even in 2019 or some new vulnerability is discovered, shall I still keep using it?

You could use Have Disk methode. I did it once (with latest drivers from Intel site) and it was working in a while (I don't know what happend that latest drivers was replaced with those from Acer site).
Maybe new Insider Preview Windows 10 build but I'm not sure.
The thing is that it was worked. After installing latest drivers, I was able to install whole new graphic manager.

Hmm, but I don't want an Insider Build. Btw, Acer drivers may be bug-free.

Acer drivers are definitely not bug-free ;) They are causing lag and they are outdated :)

A bit over a month ago, Oct 2,  a major Win10update was released 1809. Run Winver to see what you have on there now. Jack E/NJ
