Dear all,

I have spent two nights trying to resolve this and been to innumerable help sites, I will lay out as simple as I can the issues and situation and hopefully one of this community may be able to help me get into my desktop. I want to reset its factory settings.

1.  I have an Acer Aspire X3995 desktop.
2. I am offline and can not recall my password, it has been a couple of years since I was well enough to use it.
3. I have tried pressing alt then f10, plus pressing alt and tapping f10, plus tapping both and I have been unable to get into the recovery screen. It just goes straight through to the log in screen.
4. As said I can not get into the machine because I do not have the pass word, but I want to reset it all to factory settings, any advice?

Many many thanks I advance.

Nathan

    Hi Nathan,
I will provide few different ways to do a Reset.provided if its the local account.
*Try to hold the Altgr then turn on the computer and tap the f10.->troubleshoot->adv options->factory setting.
    or
*Tried to hold the shift key on the keyboard and click on the restart option on the screen. you will get it on the login page where you enter your password.
    or
*Tried to press the power buttor on and off for 5times. dont wait for the computer to on or off.just do it and finally turn on the unit you will get the adv options.
    ************************
*If its a microsoft account then you need another working computer to just reset the livemail account.
hope his will help you. Hit like if its useful.

Thank you for that. The last option has got me to the system restore which I am restoring but I am not sure if it will get me past the password issue. I was trying to find the restore to factory settings so I could start from scratch.
