Hey guys,

I haven't been happy with the temperatures with my i7 7700k and the GTX 1080ti.  I want to upgrade the CPU cooling.  I've only found one thread talking about the Cooler master Maker 92 hybrid all one one.

I was looking at the Noctua NH-D15 as an upgrade but I'm not sure about the fit.

Has anyone else done a CPU fan upgrade? If so, what did you decide on?

Thanks!

No upgrades. Just dusting & re-pasting if it consistently goes over 90°C. What CPU temperatures aren't you happy with? Have you been getting shutdowns? Jack E/NJ

The CPU was getting hot around 80C and the fan cranked up to 90% which is quite loud, however it was with 100% CPU utilization while CPU crypto mining.  After calculating the return on investment of a new CPU cooler and paste and electricty costs, it's not beneficial for me to continue mining with the CPU.  I shut down the operation and using the computer as normal.  The stock fan is perfect for everyday use and gaming with no issues.  Mining is another story.

Anything consistently less than 90°C is fine. You never needed a new cooler or paste. Just hustle on down to Littleton and pick up a few Ascent solar panels to run the G6 at full tilt for a few bitcoins a day. Jack E/NJ

If you cpu is getting that hot, try installed a liquid cooler, on it.
