HDD caddy not recognized

Hi,
I have an Acer Predator 17 G9-791 laptop and I wanted to upgrade my HDD and add a caddy that would hold the old HDD my laptop came with. I bought a caddy from the hddcaddy.eu website. It said the caddy is compatible with Acer Predator 17 G9-792 laptops, but I thought it would be fine for mine, too.

Anyway, when the caddy arrived I exchanged my old HDD with the new one, and put the old one in the caddy that I put in the optical bay. The new HDD was recognized, but the one in the caddy wasn't. It didn't show up in BIOS or the Drive Manager.

Was it a compatibility problem? Or is it something else? I would really appreciate help on the issue.

Return the caddy to the vendor for a refund (or replacement if they can guarantee compatibility with a BlueRay-equipped machine). There's nothing wrong with your laptop's BlueRay port. Jack E/NJ

Did you try to re-seat both the old HDD in the caddy and the caddy into the laptop, a few times each just to make sure all the contacts are clean and tight? Jack E/NJ

Yes, multiple times. I always got the same result, though.

Did it originally come equipped with a DVD/BlueRay drive in the bay? If yes, did you ever use the drive? Jack E/NJ

Yes, I've been using the drive for over a year now successfully. After trying to get the caddy to work and failing I returned the drive into the bay and it got instantly recognized and continued working properly.

Have you tried to switch SATA drivers yet according to these instructions? Jack E/NJ

When I tried following the steps I had no compatible generic SATA drivers offered, only Intel SATA drivers.

Google "Microsoft SATA drivers" "Windows 10" to follow crucial forum suggestions instead. Jack E/NJ

After switching to the generic SATA driver, the caddy is still unrecognized. I'm slowly losing hope of ever getting it to work.
