Monitor X193W A Problem

Hello everyone.
I've had the monitor for about 3 years now, with no malfunctions whatsoever. However, about 20 minutes ago, the screen turned solid black.
Additionally, there are no signs of anything being broken. The power indicator is still lit (blue), all cables are plugged in and won't move (i. e. it should work).
Rebooting multiple times (4 times to be exact) didn't do anything. Removing and plugging the cables back in also didn't help.

I don't know if it changes anything, but there are two (how I feel) notable matters:

When turned off in any way (removing power cord, tapping power button) and then turning it back on, the monitor briefly works [when turned on, it shows anything I do for about 2 seconds before turning black again.]
On the instant it turns on, one can hear two clicks coming from the back of the monitor
About a second after the monitor turns black, one can hear the same two clicks [they sound as if something snapped or as if there was a spark in there]

Probably nobody else had/has this problem. Maybe someone still has an answer as to what this might be...

Glad you posted this problem, DeBedenHasen! I get this every few days too. I'm using two ViewSonic monitors, which have run flawlessly for 10 years on a prior system. I think only Monitor 1 goes blank - not sure about that. It shouldn't be happening at all. There is no damage, no sound, no data loss. Anyone know why this happens? Thanks.

Hi,

Please try to unplug all the cables connected to the monitor, press and hold the power button for 30-40 sec.. now please connect only the power source and check if the device powers up. If so, connect the video cable and access OSD settings with help of OSD buttons on the monitor and reset the monitor.

Rudy, are you suggesting the monitor's software is corrupted? Never thought of that. It only happens to my main monitor, never the second one. They're both identical. Question about your instructions: "Press and hold the power button for 30-40 seconds" Do I keep the button pressed while plugging it in? I would think that's nearly impossible unless you've been working in the circus for 40 years

. Perhaps an internal power supply issue? Whatever, I'll give your solution a try. Many thanks!!

Hi again, and sorry for the delay.
I've tried your solution (which seemed fishy from the beginning [unplug everything, then hold a button ???]) with no success.

It's not impossible at all, but doesn't do anything at all, either.

Well, it does power up, however the issue persists. On, 2 sec, off.
Something I noticed was the setting OSD Timeout. I tried changing the setting and restarting the monitor. Doesn't do anything. And neither did resetting everything.

So will I have to get a new monitor?

Something else I wanted to mention is that the only way I can see something on the screen when it's """""off""""" is to use my phone's flashlight and push it against the LCD. This doesn't apply to the 2-second periods after turning on when the screen is actually "on".
