My new Acer monitor SA230 is connected thru the VGA cable to a Lenova laptop running Windows 7. I am using it to duplicate what is on the laptop screen. The monitor blacks out for about 2 seconds and then returns to what is on laptop screen. This is very annoying. It may be the settings on my Lenova, but I need someone to tell me what to change to stop this. I have adjusted the Acer with its OSD menu to 120 seconds timeout, but no luck.

Please help!

Can you please connect the monitor to another desktop, laptop or a stand-alone DVD or Blu-Ray player to check the issue?
Is it possible to create the blackout by wiggling the cable at either end, lightly tapping on the monitor in various locations?
Does the blackout occur only after resolution changes (such as starting or quitting a game) or will it occur when the PC is sitting idle on the Windows desktop?

Also, try to disable or reduce Hardware Acceleration, right-click on the Desktop and from the context menu, choose the Personalization option. Then, select Display from the left panel of the window and click on 'Change display settings'. This will open the Graphics Properties box. Now open ‘Troubleshoot’ tab. If your current display driver does not allow you to change the settings, you will see the Change settings button grayed out, and you will not be able to change the settings.

Hi. I'm having the same problem with a new RT280K, so posting here rather than starting a new thread.

My screen is set to sleep after 10 mins, but this is also automatically happening when playing vids or streams in full screen... which it shouldn't, and didn't with my last monitor (not Acer). I have not altered anything in any settings, so I'm at a loss as to why it's happening. I know I can change how long before sleep happens, but i really don't want to keep changing this every time I watch a video. Am I missing something obvious?

Have you tried the above mentioned steps?
This could be an issue with screen resolution settings.

Hi Sharanji. I noticed another thread where other people have been experiencing similar problems, including during game playing, and someone mentioned AMD's Freesync sometimes causing problems. I have no idea if/why this should impact on video replay, but just for the sake of trying, I turned it off... and just watched half an hour of video with no sleep activation. Go figure.

I am so frustrated. My acer was working fine for about 9 months and then it started blinking out and then on. And then it would work for a few minutes and then blink out again. I have a MacBook Pro. Can't find any INSTALL GUIDES online on ACER site, which is ridiculous.

Someone above said: "Also, try to disable or reduce Hardware Acceleration, right-click on the Desktop and from the context menu, choose the Personalization option."  WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

Other people are having this problem. Someone on another forum said this : "I re-read the Acer installation manual and it said to use a USB-C CABLE (not thunderbolt)! I was using a Thunderbolt cable. So I bought 2 different USB-C 3.1 cables to see if they would work. YES IT DID! So Friends, go buy yourself a Veckle B071XSDH9D USB-C 3.1 Gen 2 cable (or probably any 3.1 gen 2), and utilize the TOP Acer resolution at 75 Hz refresh like me." Is it a cable issue?

    HELP!!!
