Running cooler is always better, although the CPU's are indeed extremely robust, however additional heat and load is harder on the hardware.  One of the more tangible benefits of running cooler is the reduction in fan noise :)

You get no argument from me on any of that, just that I think the heat argument is overblown to some degree in general.  It is not like I plan to be running this think in 2032 so I am fine if something finally gives up in 2030.   =)  On the fan noise part, now you have a real issue and one of my hot button topics (no pun intended...  Well maybe a little).  One warning though, PC silence can become an obsession.  Every time I find a way to make something in my room a little bit quieter, like say the NAS, then I can hear something else much more like the PC, and it is never ending.
I travel a lot internationally for work purpose, so the quieter the notebook is within reason the better.  Although big and heavy my Predator 17 is excellent in this respect as it's slower turning Areoblade 3D fans keep the thermals in check and are quiet :)

Had a lot of notebooks, one of the worst things for me is whining fans, especially in a comparatively quiet environment.  Gaming you can always use headphones, however more limiting for work purpose and not really my preference.
