Phantom monitor taking control

Acer T605 with Sapphire branded AMD R9 270x driving 3 monitors (it came with an AMD R5, onboard vga capped and no mention of it in the BIOS).   Came with windows7 and worked just fine but I eventually got brave and pressed the win10 update button.

The upgrade process was more or less seamless but the desktop picked up a phantom 4th "generic pnp" monitor.   I tried deleting it a few times but it kept coming back, as it was the 4th monitor and no window was opening on it I just ignored it.   Win 1709 update failed so I figured a windows reset would kill 2 birds, however now that phantom monitor is the 1st of desktops and all the control panel and setting items go to it.  When I put the R5 back in it's gone.

How do I delete a monitor that doesn't exist when it's primary???

Thanks!

    Hi,

Setting the Launch CSM under BOOT in bios to always run works in deleting a monitor that doesn't exist in windows.
