Weird issue with touchpad (Helios 300)

Hi guys. Some weeks ago I noticed the following issue with the laptop touchpad:

When I press any key of the laptop, the cursor remains motionless for like half a second. I mean, I try to move the cursor (after pressing any key), but it just don't have any response for a short time. Not a big issue until I'm using a program like Photoshop, when you usually have to click while pressing some keyboard combinations.

I think is a driver issue, because it doesn't happen when using a mouse.

So, I was trying to update the drivers, but just couldn't do it. I downloaded the driver from the Acer page, and made the installation. At the end there is a message saying the installing was successful, but when looking in the device manager, nothing has changed. I keep stuck with the same old driver (Driver Date: 6/21/2006 :s)

By the way, in the Acer page there are 2 touchpad drivers, one from Synaptics and the other from Elantech. I tried with both of them, but none worked.

Any advice about this???

Open Control Panel or Settings. Check your keyboard ease of access settings. Also search "restore point". Check for an automatic Win10update restore point immediately before the time the keyboard issue started. Jack E/NJ

Hi man, thanks for your input.

To be honest the problem is happening since I got the laptop (I notice it like 3 days after the first use), but I just thought it was not a big issue. So, the Restore Point option is not going to be helpful.

At that time I also thought it could be easily fixed later on. And I still believed that updating the drivers will fix that.

Do you have any thoughts about updating the drivers? Why does it seems like they can't be updated?

    Thanks.

The generic 2006 keyboard drivers are normal and date back to WinXP days. A lot of drivers are that way. Have you played around with the keyboard ease of access settings yet? Jack E/NJ
