I start with Acer online chat. I was very clear and polite and told her what i needed to do. with part nunmbers I spend twenty minutes chatting to a the very nice zombie. who finally forwards me to another online chat. and an

999 4409 this time a 3rd party parts supplier grandtec. I get Lola yes that right L O L A Lola like the song. she quotes me $24.99 $9.00 shipping. I detect the American accent. So I mention I am in Canada. Then I am told that the price is in american dollars but the shipping is now $26. Convert all that to CAD comes to about a years wages. near 70 dollars.
onto the next attempt i try to go to the acer canada store. i see another 800 number i call it. I am asked to give the machine answering a brief description. So I do. the machine say sorry I cant help you and hangs up. Now that is sounding like the latest version of the xfiles where the machines get mad.
I try another 800 number and it turns out it is Grand tech in Canada. No answer. But I do get a call back from Donnie nice fellow. They have reasonable prices 19 cad for the cable 19 for the caddy and 19 for shipping. excellent need some want some got the cash. But Donnie tells me no supply and no eta. I tell him that grand tec in the USA (go Trump and keep going) has the parts. He says not the same company. I see. so Grand tec in the USA who happens to sell acer parts is not the same company as Grand tec Canada who also sells acer parts hmmmmmn. I get a promise that he will contact me again with an ETA.
It seems that Acer has found a new way to generate millions of dollars in bad will. You could have just included the 58 cent cable at the time of manufacture and saved a lot of us the hassle.
Should have paid a little extra and bought the zenbook. Pretty sad since I used to sell Acer in my store.
