Hey guys, so i got this laptop to play pubg, after a couple of days temps were around 85c, the first few times they would only hover 75c or so. I play in a corner and my room temperature is around 35c, with the air condition on temps would reach 75c max and not go over there.

Anyway, i read a lot of what you guys publish around here so i decided to repaste even though i had never done that. I bought every laptop maintenance item the guy on this video uses /watch?v=Ph2ibK79zd8

Anyway, first issue was after opening the laptop i lifted up the heatsink and didn't realize the fans were taped to the heatsink so one fan came lose and fell to the ground, hopefully that didn't damage it and placing it back into its tape is not the issue here. Second issue is that i had a power outage of 8 hours and i couldn't do anything but let it sit there, after power came back the thermal pads were filled with dirt, i tried cleaning them out and i did for the most part but there was some dirt in them still. Anyway, the thermal paste it came with was really bad, it even was all over a bit of the circuit board, for some reason i didn't think to take a picture of it before i started cleaning it but afterwards, and i only took a few pics, some at different points of the process of cleaning the old thermal paste, none of these pics show the thermal paste i applied just the cleaning process of the old one https://imgur.com/a/kL60n

Well, i followed the video, cleaned up the chips, the heat sink as well, re-applied thermal paste (had never done it), put everything back on, and started to test it while playing pubg which is poorly optimized and really cpu intensive.

First few hours i get 55c while playing pubg with the air condition off so my room wasn't cold, and i was incredibly happy, then suddenly they slowly crawl up to 75c to 80c, i tell to myself i need to reaply it because it being my first time may have been the issue, i applied it wrong.

After opening it again and lifting the heatsink i notice the thermal pads are much more flat than they were the previous time, so i guess i tightened the screws way too much, way more than they needed to be and that's what messed everything up? the thermal paste i applied covered the entirety of the chips and even got a little over the green board around the chips, so i reapplied it and put less so that it may spread right this time. Put everything back up and i get same temps. I now undervolted the cpu core to -145mV and the cpu cache tp -135mV, pubg is not crashing but it is only about 2c or 3c colder.

Did i broke my laptop by attempting to do this thing myself and having it go terribly wrong?

Should i buy thermal pads and replace the ones that are in there and try doing the maintenance once again?

I shipped the laptop from the US to my country, there is no support here, nothing nowhere so i have to do this on my own. I would really appreciate any advice on what to do.

Last question, why did i get such great temps for the first few hours after reapplying thermal paste for the first time? It was steady at 55c, something then happened that made it shoot up, i guess the thermal pads slowly melting, or the thermal paste being too tight and not distributing heat properly at all... Would really like to know.

75-80C are perfectly fine temperatures and the chip is made to run at these temperatures. These chips when they are used produce a lot of heat. You will never get the CPU to stay at one steady temperature without really throttling the CPU itself.
