hey guys I was curious to know if anyone knows what material the heat sink is made of in the Nitro 5? Specifically the 7700HQ model? I would just like to know to make sure it’s safe to use any type of thermal paste on the system! Thanks in advance!😁

I read up on the link you gave me, had some good stuff and I watch the video for reapplying the thermal paste, it’s seems like the predator has a copper heatsink, however no indication weather or not the Nitro has the same material heatsink :/ I’ll continue looking! Thank you!!😁
The heat sink is likely either copper or aluminum.

I extremely advise to start away from liquid metal, as it is liquid, messy, and can easily ruin your laptop. Even attempting liquid metal will void warranty. I either suggest grizzly kryonaut or MX-4. I personally used MX-4 and many others do as well, and do recommend it as I know it works really well.

Ok that’s pretty good how long has it been since you repasted? Is that stuff thick enough for laptop heatsink so it won’t leak out under higher temps and when ever you travel with your laptop?
I re-pasted my laptop back in November? I honestly do not remember an exact date but it was around Thanksgiving. Kyronaut or MX-4 wont leak. If you want some detailed information, go ahead and take a look at the Facebook group of my sticky thread. I think there is a couple other Nitro users there you may be able to get more information out of.

Ok great thank you!! I wasn’t gonna gonfor that 100% anyways I was really just interested to know if it would have been safe. Anyways you have been a tremendous help! And I appreciate it!! You said you used the mx-4, any specific reason that you picked it over the grizzly? And I will try to find that Facebook group and I’ll join! Thanks again so much!

i did mine yesterday, cpu barely over 70 degrees now fully on load!!
before it would hit 90s and shut off the bench marking!!
now sits in the 60s bench marking and i only get near 70degrees gaming and using chrome and youtube aswell as various other tasks i would be running for fun!!!

i did the gpu aswell, same results, the fan would kick in almost instantly before!! and sound like a helicopter about to take off!!!

    now hardly ever!! comes on!!

ive had it sat there running bench mark after bench mark like for a hour, ran load tests for 10-30mins (im impatient so need it to use :)

the heatsink is copper its fine!! i protected anything withing range of spill over with insulation tape and nail varnish

i voided the warranty day one anyway as far as i no! installing a m.2 ssd as mine was the cheapest i5 7300hq with a 2gb 1050 nvidia card!! it runs all i want sweet as!! its on 16gb ram too as it wouldnt run games well as it came from factory,, not sure if cpu thermal throttling or gpu as both ran really high before!!

you can see the heatsink is copper at top of picture
