This device is designed to work on windows10. Predator sense, dust defender, cool boost won't work on windows 8.1 and in addition it is possible that some drivers won't function properly.

If you have the product key for winows 8.1 pro, then you can install it.
    1. Create a recovery drive of the windows 10, so you can install it back if needed( 16GB USB flash drive is needed
    2. Create windows 8.1 installation media, select the edition that you want to install and download it.
    3. Download rufus. Make sure you run it after you plug in the USB drive(recommended size 16GB)
-Device: - select USB drive, which you want to install windows 8 on.
    - As partition scheme and target system type select GPT partition scheme for UEFI
    -file system - fat32
    - In format options select ISO image from the drop down and click on the disk icon. Browse the windows 8.1 iso file that you have downloaded. If you want select quick format, which will take several seconds to format the USB drive.
    - Press start and wait until the process is finished.
    4. You should now have 2 USB drive, one with windows10 recovery image and the other with windows 8. Format your C drive and turn off the pc. Plug in the usb drive with win8.1 and boot. It should automatically boot from the drive, if it doesn't enter in BIOS (Press F2 on boot) and from boot settings enable the F12 boot menu. Also disable secure boot and then safe and exit from BIOS menu.
    5. On boot press F12 and select the USB drive from the boot list. The windows 8 installation process will begin.
Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.
