The problem is with the main power jack plug on the machine, broken, I want to replace this, which involves opening the machine disconnecting the plug and replace with a new one. I am quite adept in repairing things, although this will be a first inside a computer, any advice on part number etc. would be appreciated.
Thanks
Thanks

Hi,
You may have to do a complete disassembly, make sure to use a Anti static band if you can, just to be on the safe side, after removing the upper case, you can take off the WiFi cables and check whether you have enough room to remove the DC in cable, if not you may have to remove the WiFi card, I have attached some snips to show you how it would look inside.

Thank you, very helpful, will let you know when the part arrives, and my attempt at repair, as you say, an antistatic band will be needed.0

Hi again brummyfan2, have a little? problem now, have fixed the part in to the computer, working fine, charging as it should, however, I am unable to get the mouse in the machine to work, have to admit, I broke the little ;plastic cable retaining clip, thought maybe I could just tape the ribbon down with masking tape, but that doesnt work, tried a number of time like that, to no avail. I would appreciate any advice you can offer to remedy this situation, quick hacks or other wise. Again, appreciate any help. Hope to speak soon.0

Switch off the laptop, Press F2 button as soon as you press the Power button, move to Main tab by clicking the right arrow button on the keyboard, then move to Touchpad with down arrow button, then you click Touchpad and select Advanced mode, press F10 button to save and exit.

Going to try that now, thanks, will let you know outcome.

Didn't make any difference am afraid, followed your instruction there, what was supposed to happen?0

Touchpad has to be in Advanced mode to function properly, you mentioned about a broken plastic cable retaining clip, is that for the touchpad cable? If so, have you inserted the cable fully and applied the sticky tape?0

Tried it again, still no mouse/ cursor working.

I think that you need to get it fixed by a Technician in a Repair shop.0

Touchpad is in advanced mode, following your instruction, mind you doesnt mean anything to me, not being techy in computers. I believe the cable is in the correct position, even tried re-taping it in the'socket, made no difference. Help
