hi All. acer aspire f15 running windows 10. I'm unable to adjust the screen brightness using either the windows slider bar (bar does not exist in windows display screen) or the FN-arrow keys. i've tried uninstalling windows updates , uninstalling drivers, installing different drivers, installing aftermarket brightness applications. The screen remains at full brightness and my eyes are extremely sore I had this problem before, but a windows update fixed it. That was about middle last year. A recent update, I'm assuming mid February, caused the problem to return. Machine is unusable and causes severe red and dry eye.

    Can you try this?

    1. Go into "Control Panel" and then "Power Options".

    2. Click the "Change plan settings" link next to which ever plan you are currently using and then click "Change advance power settings".

    3. In this new window click "Display" to open up the listings under it.

    4. Now locate and click each of the following..."Display brightness", "Dimmed display brightness" and"Enable adaptive brightness".

    5. Change each of these to the settings you wish, then click the "Apply" button and finally the "OK" button.

    6. You should be good.

You could try updating your Graphics Card Driver to see if that helps?

    Hi,
Try reinstalling Acer Quick Access Application for your model after downloading from here:https://www.acer.com/ac/en/GB/content/support-product/6738?b=1

    Hi,
Yes, if you try to install it without uninstalling the current installation, you will get the message "It's already installed", go to Acer support site, download the Application then go to Control panel, Programs and features, uninstall the Acer Quick Access, reboot and install using the downloaded file.

thanks Brummyfan2. I had 2 monitors, deleted both, refreshed and it immediately dimmed the screen, and the brightness bar is back. thanks and greetings from South Africa.
