Dual Boot Ubuntu Problem after Fall Creator's Update

I have a 64 bit Aspire ATC 780 Desktop that I received end of January, 2017.  I was able to get the dual boot to work then, but I'm not sure how.  It may have been just running windows boot repair or some such multiple times.  I do know I tried the secure boot methodology and that did not work then, as it is not now - with the Fall Creator's Update which just ran.

I've researched this considerably, and it does appear Acer has more issues with the dual boot installation.

The solutions I have seen that suggest the secure boot technique are a bit before my machine and I am wondering if there was a change?  I've also seen references to 'trusting a file', in the Bios.  I don't have that option. (A laptop bios feature?)

At this point my best guess is to either update the BIOS/UEFI or reinstall the Ubuntu.  Neither of which I'd like to do....
