I was given a Gateway MP6954 laptop, previous owner lost any of the software that came with this unit.  I need a factory restore CD for Windows XP Media Center Edition and drivers that came with this laptop.  I entered the serial # to order the e-media, but keep getting the same message that's not able to locate the serial number.

The reason is I installed Mint on it, but when I removed mint, can't find the program to allow the OS boot choice as it was installed as a dual boot setup.  I have a regular copy of Windows XP Home Edition, not the media Center edition and the associated drivers/software for this unit.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Matt

XP is no more supported, so no way to buy or find a factory restore CD.
    I'm not an Acer employee.

If you haven't tried to do so already, I suggest that you re-install the latest 18.3 cinnamon to see if most everything can be made to work acceptably. I find that it can be fairly easily tailored to be nearly indistinguishable from the look, feel & operation of a Microsoft machine. Jack E/NJ
