Aspire T3-710 upgrading/noisy fan help please

Hi there,

I have the Acer Aspire T3-710 with the i7 -6700 cpu and I am currently digitising my dvd collection to store on a nas drive.I have been using Winx to rip my dvds,and the fan on my pc kicks in and the processor runs on almost full power while converting my films which is causing me a bit of concern as I have a couple hundred more to rip.I have re-thermal compounded the heatsink with some uprated silver paste,but it still kicks in for 3/4 of the ripping duration.

So,my question is,can anyone recommend an uprated fan/heatsink that they have installed in this particular desktop? Or does this sound more like it could be something to do with the software?

Sounds like it's doing exactly what it should. Run one of the many CPU temperature utilities and see what happens when you task the processor like that. The temp should start rising until the fans speed up, where it should stabilize or drop slightly. If you start seeing temps higher than 80°C then we can visit additional cooling, but I'd guess it's stable and under 70°C.

Thanks for your reply,I downloaded a cpu temperature monitor and was a little concerned to see the cpu running at around 80-90 C while running the program,even with the fan kicked in fully (see attached pics,one while the program was running,one after when pc was idle

So would you recommend additional cooling as I do have a lot of dvds to move to digital and a bit concerned about running the cpu at 90 degrees for hours at a time.

If that is the case,are there any fans that would fit the T3-710 case and would provide better cooling?

It looks to me like there are two sizes of fans that could mount in that area of the back. See the eight holes surrounding it? Measure the width of the outer set and the width of the inner set, they should be square so height will be the same. That should tell you what sizes of fans can fit (I'd guess 80 and 120mm, but measure to be sure). The system fan connector is between the big power connector and the memory slots on the motherboard. Note that it looks to me like it's a four pin connector, so you'll want a fan that has the same. Four pins means the motherboard can control the fan speed and report speed to tools like the one you are using.
