Hi, recently my laptop have begun to stay at 90-98C whilst only having firefox and the game Runescape open. May this be because i never got a hdd caddy + SATA cable so i could install my hdd?

You can try undervolting the CPU with XTU or Throttlestop, which will reduce the temperature. Begin with reducing the voltage offset by 100mV and then continue reducing it by 5mV until the system crashes. Reboot and set the voltage to the last value the system was stable on. You should run a stress test like Prime95, while undervolting.

A video showing how to use Throttlestop.

If after undervolting the average CPU temp doesn't go under 85C, then you can turn on max fan speed or use a cooling pad for better airflow. If the average temperature is still above 85C, then the application of the thermal paste is very bad and you have to contact Acer or repaste the unit by yourself(voids warranty).
Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.
