Switch 10 won't boot up

Hi guys and gals

So my daughter had a switch 10 and we've run into an issue with it.

When we push the power button it turns blue and the acer beyond limits screen flashes up for a millisecond and then the screen goes blank and then nothing.  You can leave it for any amount of time and nothing other than the power button remains blue for a short time then goes off.

When plugged in the power button is orange.

Some research suggests maybe a battery issue but of course I am unsure.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

P.s we have tried the various button combination presses. Power+volume up/down but always the same result.

Thanks
Claire

    Hi,
Could you please try what this guy has done, if you haven't tried it already:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGpo5GhVz4Y

Hi and thanks for the response.

I have seen this video and have tried several button combinations both power+volume up and power+volume down

Each one yielded the same result.

From the standby state pressing the power+volume up or down just turns the power button blue and as usual we get a flash of the acer beyond limits screen and again nothing ... if the USB power cable is plugged in then the screen remains blank and the power button blue for annindefinate amount of time. If it is unplugged the power button will turn off after maybe a minute or a bit less.

My husband has done some reading and there is some information floating about reLatin to the battery being completely discharged and perhaps disconnecting it and reconnecting after a power drain might help.

Now since he has done that we just saw your comment and have tried the power+volume down with the keyboard disconnected (all our attempts have been with the keyboard disconnected) the first attempt was the usual result. We tried a few time's first from standby and also from when on but always nothing.

Now with the keyboard connected and at various angles of being open its changed

Now we don't even get the acer screen and the unit even now it's disconnected from the keyboard won't even remain on the blue will return to the orange state after a few seconds.

Listening to the unit there is no mechanical sound of even attempting to start up either which has been the case all along.

My husband is going with the assumption it's just dead but I hold some hope a solution is out there.

It was barely used and never abused in any way it's bizarre how it just died all of a sudden.

It may be worth mentioning that whilst replying we have been testing further.

Where as before removing the power cable and trying would give the same result although it wouldn't stay on long, now however there is no power if the power cable is removed ... may look into a new battery

    Hi,
I think it's better to send it to Acer Service centre and get it fixed (they might replace the MB), if you are within the warranty period.
