Hi, so long story short I have a NAS computer build myself. I had some issues booting it with a USB key, and was asked to try and see if the USB stick maybe got corupted. I tried booting from it on my G9-791, but with no luck, so I tried and played around in BIOS. I had changed the boot mode from UEFI to Legacy and from than couldn't do *****... I tried everything you can imagine.

Predator boot logo got changed, went smaller but no boot into OS what so ever. Just a plain freeze. Can't go to BIOS, can't reset, no F2, no DEL, no F12, no nothing...
I took main battery off, nothing, I took CMOS battery - nothing (hey ACER, this is just great move!).

Than I went forum and reading. I didn't find anything with similar issue to mine. Than I thought to myself as a last resort - to unplug the disks. I have to, both LiteON from factory and Samsung 850 PRO.

SUCCESS!! I was able to boot bios after that, without disks, than reset Legace into UEFI, than power off, plug disks back, and now I'm with windows again.
Sad thing is after another simple thing went crazy ***** hell, I told myself one more time I'm selling this and here I am, have to sell it.

Great laptop but... there are too many buts.

Hope this will help someone in future!

  • If you switch your discs from GPT to MBR before it should work. Save your complete Data before. You must do a fresh install after (data loss).

by the way, you can reproduce such faults (based on not enough knowledge about UEFI) wiht all manufacturers of UEFI Notebooks :)
