Thermal Paste | Helios 300

Which thermal paste would you recommend for this graphics card? Arctic silver 5 or MX4?

    You want MX4, because it is non-conductive and a newer version of Silver 5. With Silver 5, if you accidentally put too much and it touches the soldering, it could fry the laptop.

    In my 'Frequent Questions and Answers Information Guide' I have a section that has information on Thermal Pasting if you would like to take a look at it.

    You want MX4, because it is non-conductive and a newer version of Silver 5. With Silver 5, if you accidentally put too much and it touches the soldering, it could fry the laptop.

      Silver 5 is non conductive, and it was made to conduct the heat, not electricity.. ._. i'm confused

    By non-conductive, skelo meant non-electrically conductive. There is no point having a non-thermally conductive thermal paste :). Arctic silver 5 is electrically conductive(silver is metal), mx-4 is non-electrically conductive, but both are thermally conductive(at least better than air).

    Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

    Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

    TY @ven98 for clearing it up some. 

    If excess Arctic Silver is applied, it can touch the solder that transfers electricity (especially around the GPU is most noticeable, will link picture). If the same paste touches two or more point of electricity, it will conduct the electricity and cause an electrical surge in the laptop, and will ruin the motherboard/CPU/GPU/whole laptop. AKA why I said it was conductive(electrically).



    MX-4 does not have a chance of that happening and performs pretty much the same to Arctic Silver.
